Global Artivism: Join a Global Movement for Change Through Culture

Artists and cultural practitioners have the power to question, challenge and reshape the world around us. Global Artivism is bringing together people using that power to create change through culture.

Global Artivism is a Global South and Global Majority-led movement connecting artists, cultural practitioners, organisers, storytellers and communities working to create a safer and more just world. The movement creates space to share local realities, exchange ideas and strengthen collective action through art and culture.

Following its first convening in Pretoria, South Africa, in 2024 and a second gathering in Salvador, Brazil, in 2025 — which brought together more than 1,000 artivists from 86 countries — Global Artivism is continuing its journey in 2026 with a series of regional virtual convenings connecting artivists and changemakers across the world.

The 2026 programme brings together people from different regions and backgrounds to share experiences, exchange ideas and explore how music, visual art, performance, storytelling and other forms of cultural expression can be used to question power, reclaim narratives and imagine different futures.

Whether you are an artist, cultural practitioner, organiser, institution or ally, Global Artivism offers an opportunity to bring your experiences into a wider global conversation and connect with others working at the intersection of culture and social change.
