Terms & Conditions
I. GENERAL

JM International, Enhancing Accountability and Transparency International, hereafter referred to as “The Organisers”, are responsible for the running of the FAIR PLAY Anti-Corruption Youth Voices competition. Fair Play is an awareness-raising program and network-building effort to connect socially conscious artists and citizens worldwide, spreading the anti-corruption message to youth globally.

Fair Play is an international competition for original songs by young bands (with members between 18-35 years) on the theme of anti-corruption and social justice. Individual musicians or bands are invited to submit their anti-corruption music videos online and take part in the competition.

A jury composed of international artists and competition organisers will select up to 2 winners on the basis of musical quality, anti-corruption message /campaign relevance, and adaptability to live performance.

Winning bands and Fair Play Ambassadors, hereafter referred to as “The Participants” are those musicians selected to perform at the Ngeke! Festival.
II. PRIZE

Winning bands receive R10,000 to perform at Ngeke! Festival and a fully covered trip (see below) to Johannesburg (South Africa) to participate and perform in the context of the first Ngeke! Festival and Fair Play Bootcamp from December 4- 7, 2025.

The Organisers will cover the winner's travel expenses (of the members of the band as submitted in the application), local transportation, accommodation for a maximum of 3 nights and meals during the duration of the stay in Johannesburg. Personal costs in the hotel such as the use of mini-bar, room service, etc cannot be covered.

Winning bands are expected to arrive on the 4th of December and depart on the 7th of December, 2025. Plane tickets must be arranged directly with the organisers who will purchase the tickets on behalf of the bands. All participants will be flown in economy class.

Accommodation will be confirmed by the organisers closer to the time of the event.

Three meals a day shall be provided for participants beginning with dinner on the 4th to breakfast on the 7th.

Participants are expected to cover their own insurance (health/instrument/etc).

Participants will not be paid any additional performance fees beyond the prize money they receive, but are entitled to a small “per diem” per band member whilst in Johannesburg.

Participants will be collected by a conference transport and taken to their hotel on arrival. Returns to the airport shall be facilitated and covered by the local organisers in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The organisers may modify these regulations in the interest of the festival. If this should happen, participants will be informed in advance.
III. THE PERFORMANCE

Winners will perform on the 6 of December 2025. The final time of their performances will be confirmed in advance by the organisers.

Winners are given an approximate playing time of max 30 minutes. Exact timings will be confirmed by the organiser closer to the time of performance.

To ensure a smooth progress of the event, participants are expected to use the sound and lighting equipment provided by the organiser, and participants may only rely on the technical engineers, stage managers and sound engineers appointed by the organiser.

The organiser provides: keyboard, drums (bass drum, toms, snare, cymbals, drum stool) singing microphones, voice system, amplifiers, PA. Participants bring their own instrument (guitar, violin, percussion, etc.) + the necessary (long) cables that are needed. Drummers bring their own drumsticks. If the participant has special technical requirements, they should contact the Fair Play Organisers in time.

All participants must respect all time schedules and agreements sent by the organiser.
IV. CODE OF CONDUCT

The following guidelines apply to all activities related to the FAIR PLAY programme, whether implemented by participants, partners, staff or members of the Organisers or affiliated partners. Fair Play is a non-profit initiative and artists are expected to align themselves with the values of the competition. Artists should not use the platform to promote personal political agendas and to focus their messages on tackling corruption. The organisers reserve the right to cancel any winner’s performance should they violate the Fair Play Code of
Conduct.

RESPECT FOR HUMAN DIGNITY
Respect is to be shown to every individual, regardless of gender, age, religion, sexuality, ethnicity or political affiliation. Any and every form of mental or physical violence is not tolerated. Likewise the purchase of sexual services, the use of illegal drugs, and the misuse of alcohol are unacceptable. -
CULTURAL SENSITIVITY
All participants are expected to familiarise themselves with the local culture, including local religious practices and their observance, and to show respect through their behaviour and dressing manner. -
SECURITY
Participants are expected to familiarise themselves with the local security situation, to take necessary precautions and listen to the advice of the local organisers. -
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
Consideration is to be given to the environmental consequences of all activities; wherever possible, environmentally sustainable solutions are to be preferred. -
CONFIDENCE & GOODWILL
All participants, partners and staff are responsible, through their work, for maintaining and promoting confidence and goodwill towards one another. It is their responsibility to ensure that the methods employed and the activities implemented are in accordance with the basic values and principles of Jeunesses Musicales, Transparency International and the FAIR PLAY Anti-Corruption Youth voices program.
V. DISCLAIMER

By signing this document, the participant entitles the organiser to use any picture, video or sound recording captured by the organiser in the framework of the contest for promotion purposes (eg: radio, television, print or online media) without any compensation for the participants.
Data provided by the participant will be used by the organiser in accordance with local law and international law in relation to the processing of personal data. Without the express consent of the participant, this data may not be disclosed to third parties, except for direct partners of Imagine. The participant also gives admission to the organiser to publish their contact info for promotional purposes on the internet or in a printed guide.

The participant releases the organiser from all liability for any damage that may result from participating in FAIR PLAY, whether damage to the musicians, band, group or ensemble, its members or materials.
The participant is solely responsible for their own travel/health insurance during their participation at the Ngeke! Festival and shan’t hold the organiser liable for any injury or illness incurred during the event.
By applying this document the participant acknowledges that they have read, understood and agree with the above terms and conditions.
